FORREST CITY, Ark. (WMC) - Forrest City Police are investigating after a burglar was shot and killed during an attempted home break-in.

According to police, around 3:26 a.m., a call came in reporting an attempted break-in at a home on South Center Street.

Just a few minutes later, another call was received reporting a man calling for help behind Day Temple Church of God in Christ on East Midway Ave. and South Division Street.

Responding officers and emergency personnel located a man in the area.

Despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead. The city coroner says the homeowner shot him.

The individual has been identified as a 24-year-old man from Forrest City.
