MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - An argument between three boys at a Frayser tire shop Wednesday afternoon escalated to gunfire and left one dead.

The Memphis Police Department has charged a 17-year-old with second-degree murder. His identity has not yet been released.

At 12:50 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call from Family Tire Shop, located at 2731 Range Line Road.

Police say that early information indicates that three boys were in a verbal argument that escalated to gunfire.

One 16-year-old boy was found at the scene with critical gunshot injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital, but did not survive.

MPD says the two others were detained at the scene when officers arrived. One of those boys was arrested and charged with murder, while the other was released without charges.
