NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - Work is underway to improve pedestrian safety on a busy and dangerous road in the Elm City.
Foxon Boulevard (Route 80) has seen hundreds of accidents. On average, 27,000 cars pass through this stretch of road every day.
“They don’t care. They don’t see you. They act like they don’t see you. It’s really dangerous and really scary,” said Elisa Macero, New Haven. “It’s a nightmare. Some people stop, some people don’t.”
A nearly $2 million project between the City of New Haven and the Connecticut Department of Transportation was designed to slow traffic along a half-mile stretch of Foxon Boulevard, between Middletown Avenue and Quinnipiac Avenue.
