HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — After an 18-month deployment, Naval Captain Edwin Smith had just one more job to do when he returned home: surprise his kids at school.
Hillsborough County Public Schools captured Smith's first stop at York K-8, where he surprised his son.
"What's up, buddy? I'm home!" Smith told his son.
His son quickly jumped into his arms for a long hug.
"No more long trips, buddy. No more long trips," Smith said while hugging his son.
With one surprise complete, Smith made his way to East Bay High School to greet his three daughters, triplets in the 10th grade.
Smith's daughters were captured running down a hallway with big smiles on their faces to hug their dad.
"Welcome back home Captain Smith," Hillsborough County Public Schools said.
