CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Sexual Assault Cold Case Unit arrested a suspect connected to two sexual assaults that happened more than 30 years ago.

CMPD announced on Wednesday 55-year-old Dulaine Lotharp has been charged in connection to attacks reported in 1993 and 1994 in Charlotte.

The first assault was reported on July 22, 1993, when a victim told police she was sexually assaulted by force by a man she did not know. The victim was later treated at Carolinas Medical Center, where a sexual assault kit was completed.

Just over a year later, on Aug. 25, 1994, another victim was attacked while walking on a wooded path. That victim was also taken to the hospital and a sexual assault kit was completed.
