Public health professionals say vaccines prevent diseases

The elimination of vaccine mandates could lead to the rise of infectious diseases that were considered eradicated in the US, like polio. The last case of polio was reported in 1979, thanks in large part to the development of the polio vaccine back in the 1950s.
