MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - This weekend, the Medora Hot Air Balloon Rally will take to the skies just after sunrise.
Pilots from across the country will fly their colorful airships above Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
One of them is a retired farmer from Glenburn who has been soaring for three decades.
Flights of Amber: that’s the name of Brian Christianson’s hot air balloon.
His inspiration comes from fields of wheat blowing in the wind.
The Glenburn pilot said his journey with taking to the sky started roughly 30 years ago.
“Had the opportunity one night to go flying with the pilot, at the time, and it was an experience I just wanted to keep doing,” said Brian.
He started out helping on a crew and now has his very own.
Brian said it takes a handful of people to set up the balloon, o
