WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — News 5 has learned more information regarding a fatal crash that occurred in August.

On Aug. 23 at around 10:40 p.m., a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer collided with a 2023 Nissan Sentra on U.S. 43 near the 30-mile marker outside of McIntosh.

Both vehicles caught fire following the initial collision. The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead on the scene.

According to a release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the drivers of both vehicles have been identified by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

The driver of the Chevrolet was Kierra D. Hawthorne, 34, of Mobile. The driver of the other vehicle, a Nissan, was a 16-year-old.
