AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The SIMS Foundation faced financial hardship at the end of last year and had to pause its services for a few months. Now, the nonprofit, which provides mental health and substance use recovery services for local music industry professionals, is ramping up one of its annual events by turning it into something where foundation leaders can be "very intentional with the ask" for financial support.

Music For The Mind will be held in the format of a fundraising gala on Wednesday, Sept. 10. SIMS Foundation CEO Derrick Lesnau said that, in the past, the annual event was presented as a more casual concert series to raise awareness about the nonprofit.
