AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Texas, according to the Texas Health and Human Services.

Lone Star Circle of Care’s Big Pink Bus has been on a journey of helping Central Texas women beat cancer through detection services offered at low costs.

An event is planned for later this week to help ensure that the bus can keep rolling.

Lone Star Circle of Care, a nonprofit community health center, will host the Big Pink Benefit on Friday, from 4–7 p.m. at the Junior League’s Community Impact Center.

The event will raise funding to support the Big Pink Bus, a mobile mammography unit that provides breast cancer screenings to underserved and uninsured women across Central Texas.
