CHICAGO (WGN) — Chicago police on Wednesday announced an arrest in connection with the deadly Labor Day weekend shooting in the city's Riverdale neighborhood on the Far South Side.
Diamond Steward, 31, of Chicago, faces a first-degree murder charge after police allege she shot a woman in the 13200 block of S. Ellis Ave., on Sunday, Aug. 31. Steward and the victim were reportedly in a verbal altercation before shots were fired, according to police.
The victim was struck in the chest and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she later died.
Officers arrested Steward a day later on Monday, Sept. 1
Steward is due in court for a detention hearing on Thursday.
