LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - It’s been a devastating three days for the family of the 12-year-old girl who was killed in a car crash on the Gene Snyder Freeway early Monday morning.
Police say 12-year-old Jada Smith was killed when the car she was traveling in was hit by a drunk driver. That driver, Renaldo James Gill, has been charged with DUI, murder, assault and failure to wear a seatbelt.
“Jada was a ball of joy,” her aunt, Dayanna Broome, said. “Good big sister, good cousin, good daughter, good niece.”
The crash also left Jada’s mother, Jasmine Simpson, fighting for her life.
