LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The 2nd Annual 16 de Septiembre parade and celebration will take place in downtown Laredo on Sunday, Sept. 14.

The parade runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., starting at the 1100 block of Zaragoza Street and ending at the Laredo ISD Civic Center.

Organizers said the celebration highlights the strong connection between Laredo and its sister city across the border.

“This is to celebrate our culture, to celebrate being together, sharing the same space which Laredo and Nuevo Laredo always do,” event organizer Dr. Julie Bazan said. “We share our same culture, the same space. We like to celebrate. So we will start with a parade at 10 a.m. We will follow with a festival that is a Binational Avocado Festival, and this will be taking place downtown Laredo.”
