Wendell football is changing plans for this fall.

The Trojans will play a varsity game against Marsing on Friday night, then play a junior varsity only schedule the rest of the season.

Wendell athletic director Nathan Kerbs announced the decision in a post on the Wendell High School Facebook page on Wednesday morning.

“While we understand it may bring disappointment, our priority is ensuring that our players have the opportunity to compete, improve, and enjoy the game in a setting that best fits our current numbers and experience level,” Kerbs wrote in the post. “Competing at the JV level will allow our athletes more playing time, leadership opportunities, and the chance to continue building toward the future of our program.”

Wendell is 0-2 this season, losing to Filer 61-0 on Aug. 22
