MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (GRAY) – Vice President JD Vance visited Minneapolis on Wednesday—just a week after a mass shooting killed two kids and injured more than 20 others—hoping to pay respects and visit with victims’ families.

Vance went directly from the airport to Annunciation Catholic Church, placing flowers on the church steps. He met with several families privately.

“It’s obviously a very sad moment, but also in a lot of ways, a very rewarding moment that these parents opened up their lives and opened up their hearts,” said Vance before departing.

One of the VP’s meetings was with the family of Lydia Kaiser, a young girl who remains hospitalized a week after the shooting took place.
