NEW RICHMOND, Ohio —

Shelly McGlone, a woman from Goshen, Ohio, is charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing Brian Ballard in New Richmond on Tuesday night and has a $1 million cash bond set by the court. Police responded to Indian Ridge Trail after a 911 caller reported a woman screaming for help near a cul-de-sac on the dead-end road.

Upon arrival, police and firefighters found the 58-year-old Ballard shot in the chest. Prosecutor David Gast said, "They took necessary precautions." He added, "They checked on the victim. He did still have a slight heartbeat, but he did pass on the scene. He did have a bullet wound to the chest, and the defendant did make an admission to law enforcement to shooting the victim in the chest and obviously causing his death." Advertisement
