WASHINGTON — Last month, officials with the District counted the unsheltered residents to track the impacts from the federal law enforcement surge . The count took place on Aug. 28 and was just a "count only"; it did not include interviews, and personal information was not collected.
Results of the Aug. 28-29 census showed 764 unsheltered individuals in DC:
81 people in 54 tents; 683 unsheltered plus people of unsure status.
In July, there were 128 people living in 107 tents in DC, according to the DMHHS count.
