AUGUSTA, Maine — In a Tuesday letter signed by over 50 lawmakers, the Maine legislature urged Anthem and Northern Light Health to reach a new contract before the current one expires at the end of September.

Northern Light first announced it would end its contract with Anthem last month after stalled negotiations over reimbursement rates for the next three-year contract and claims that the health insurance agency wasn't active in talks.

Anthem responded by claiming Northern Light's demands were not in the best interest of its members.

The two groups have disagreed on details surrounding talks , including Anthem's degree of involvement during negotiations and specific demands from Northern Light. Both eventually agreed to a mediation with a mutually acceptable mediator .
