PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- "The Simple Way" is an initiative in Kensington focused on strengthening the bonds of their community members.

By being out in the neighborhood and spreading the word, they provide a space of respite.

Their newest project is "The Simple Library," which contains a calm reading environment for children and adults.

There's also a selection of Spanish books for those in the community who speak the language.

This gives them an opportunity to boost their literacy skills in their own neighborhood.

It also gives them a safe space to hang out with good influences around them.

"I think the more books that kids have access to, the more they can learn, the more they can get excited about stories, places they can go in their minds," said volunteer, Katie Brot
