TYLER, Texas (KETK) -- The Food Truck freedom act is one of 800 new Texas laws that took effect on Monday and it has created a single statewide health permit for food trucks.
Getting a food truck started can be a long and expensive process but thanks to a new Texas law the permits process is getting easier for business owners.
"This is a big step forward in the mobile food industry," Ginger Points with NetHealth, said.
Before HB 2844 passed, food truck owners would have to apply and pay for separate permits from each individual county where they wanted to operate.
"A lot of different cities have very strict laws," Kallie Malone, Owner of ETX Lemonade said. "So, there are certain cities that we don't necessarily like to go to just because it's kind of a hassle."
Thanks to this new law,
