CHEYENNE — Members of the Cheyenne City Council’s Public Services Committee discussed certain aspects of the proposed ordinance governing vehicle mufflers, excessive smoke and unreasonable noise that some said may need to be rewritten or rejected entirely.

The conversation, which took place Tuesday, follows a two-week delay that was established at the Aug. 18 Public Services Committee meeting.

The ordinance was first introduced in early August, with council members citing months of complaints from residents about hearing loud motorcycle and car engines early in the morning and late at night.

The ordinance would create Section 10.24.200 in city code, and repeal Section 8.56.050, the latter of which states: “No person shall modify, repair, or replace the exhaust system of a motor vehicl
