UConn is one of the universities with the most international students in the state, but enrollment numbers for this school year show a decline.

About 2,650 international students are enrolled as of the first day of the academic year, according to Stephanie Reitz, the university's spokesperson.

That’s an 8% decline from last year, a decrease that Reitz said, "is more modest than anticipated."

Reitz adds that undergraduate enrollment from China and India decreased, in keeping with recent trends. She notes that more students enrolled from other countries, notably Vietnam.
