A case filed against city of Hartford officials has been dismissed regarding the handling of the assault on Rep. Maryam Khan in June 2023, according to court documents.

The man who pleaded guilty to assaulting Khan last June was sentenced to five years in prison with 15 years of special parole. A standing protective order was also granted.

Khan (D-Hartford) was attacked outside the XL Center by Andrey Desmond while leaving a Muslim prayer service on June 28, 2023.

In the weeks following the attack, Khan publicly criticized Hartford police for how they handled the incident.

She claimed that there was no ambulance and no one at the scene to provide her medical attention, until she asked for it.
