AFL legend Mick Malthouse has been assaulted during an armed robbery at his East Melbourne home.
A group of men tried to break into Malthouse’s home about 12.30am on Thursday.
Police said the former Collingwood great chased the offenders into a nearby laneway, where he was assaulted.
Malthouse sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment.
The attackers fled on foot and the police investigation is ongoing.
Malthouse coached West Coast to two premierships in 1992 and 1994, and Collingwood to one in 2010.
He was also a player in Richmond’s 1980 premiership team.
