MACON, Ga. — On Wednesday, Spirit Airlines announced they are cancelling their planned flights from Middle Georgia Regional Airport to Fort Lauderdale, leaving disappointed passengers just one month before the route was scheduled to launch.
The airline responded to 13WMAZ with a statement, which said in part, "As part of our efforts to transform our business and position Spirit for long-term success, we are adjusting our network to focus on our strongest performing markets."
The airline filed for bankruptcy last week for the second time this year.
