ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- On Thursday night, the Downtown Ithaca Alliance will be closing out the Beginnings Credit Union Summer Concert Series in the Ithaca Commons, but that's not all they're celebrating. September 4 also marks the 50th anniversary of the Ithaca Commons.

From 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., people are invited to head down to the Bernie Milton Pavilion to listen to the last two performers of the season, Yamatai, Cornell’s celebrated taiko drumming ensemble, and the Fall Creek Brass Band, Ithaca’s funk-fueled brass band.

Plus, attendees can grab free Purity Ice Cream while supplies last, hear remarks from Ithaca's Mayor, and celebrate the history of the Commons and the contributions of local businesses.

The festivities are free and open to the public.
