ULYSSES TWP., Pa. (WENY) -- An Elmira man was injured after crashing his van into a house in Potter County on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police in Coudersport, 59-year-old Thomas P. Wood was driving east on State Route 49 around 4:50 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle. Troopers say Wood’s 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter veered off the north side of the road and slammed into a residence in Ulysses Township.
The crash left the van with disabling damage, including a smashed windshield, heavy front-end damage, and the right side pushed in. Investigators reported there were no skid marks, suggesting Wood never used his brakes before impact.
Wood, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time, suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported to Jones Memorial
