Crews are working to contain the TCU September Lightning Complex, which has burned nearly 14,000 acres across the Sierra Foothills and is 15% contained. The largest blaze, the 6-5 Fire in Tuolumne County, has scorched more than 6,900 acres and forced evacuations around Chinese Camp, where historic homes have been destroyed. A bulldozer accident in Calaveras County sent an operator to the hospital, but no other injuries were reported. More than 600 firefighters are battling the fires in rugged terrain as residents are urged to stay alert and ready to evacuate.
