LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - Considering a 50% increase in the fire fee, Lake City Council council members chose to cut that in half.

Fire chief Josh Wehinger explained the initial increase would pay for six new positions.

Facing complaints from several residents about the increase, council members voted to raise the fee to pay for three fire department positions and try to find the money in the general fund to pay for the other three positions.
