A major road outside Victoria station has been shut by police amid a serious crash involving a double decker bus. Victoria Street was closed to traffic just after 8.20am, with emergency crews flooding the scene soon after.

A cordon is now in place between Wilton Road and Buckingham Palace Road as firefighters, paramedics and officers continue to work. Pictures shared by onlookers show a bus with a smashed windscreen that appears to have mounted the pavement.

It is currently unclear if anyone has been injured.

Transport for London has put a dozen bus routes on diversion.

The Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service have been contacted for more information.
