BATTLE GROUND — For a football team already scheduled to play seven of its nine regular season games at home, why not add one more?

For Battle Ground, that bonus home game on Saturday meant an early chance to show its potential to its fans, who mostly filled the main grandstand at District Stadium.

The Tigers dominated Eisenhower 47-0, holding the Cadets to minus-2 yards of total offense in the season opener for both teams.

Saturday’s contest was supposed to happen Friday in Yakima. But hazardous air quality due to wildfires led the schools to agree to move the game to Battle Ground.

Saturday’s clean air, cloudy skies and mild temperatures suited the Tigers just fine. Battle Ground led 30-0 at halftime after scoring 23 points in the second quarter.
