AMES – Aidan Bouman took the snap from just outside the red zone, and the South Dakota quarterback stutter-stepped backward before letting off his pass.

The ball sailed toward the end zone, where Iowa State football defensive back Jamison Patton followed in coverage. He stopped around the 3-yard line, right around the same time that the ball hit the fingertips of Coyotes’ wide receiver Jack Martens.
