NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Six rabies deaths involving humans have been reported so far this year in 2025, according to an NBC report.

In late August, Dr. Ryan Wallace, who leads the rabies team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said they have been tracking 15 different outbreaks.

Those outbreaks were reported in the following states:

New York

Massachusetts

Alaska

California

Maine

Oregon

Vermont

Indiana

The CDC also stated that there have been outbreaks in Tennessee’s neighboring states, including Kentucky and North Carolina.
