CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - More than 70 organizations will be at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids for the annual Five Seasons Stand Down.

The Stand Down, which started 19 years ago, is meant to connect veterans and people facing homelessness with valuable resources. Among the groups on site, there are food, employment and health services.

The event was originally started to help struggling veterans but over the years has changed to extend a helping hand to people facing homelessness.

“It brings me a a great sense of personal pleasure and joy to be able to to give back and to help out those that are in need that, that are in the situation I was in,” Joe Stutler, a Stand Down organizer who was homeless, himself.

The gate is opening at 9 a.m., people can register from 8:45 to 11
