MACOMB (WGEM) - Spoon River College officially cut the ribbon and opened a new Macomb campus Wednesday afternoon.
The school year started on Monday, but SRC President Curt Oldfield said contractors worked through Sunday to complete finishing touches.
A crowd of well over 100 people gathered at the facility at 2500 E. Jackson St. The space, formerly a retail center, was purchased by SRC in 2006 with the goal of growing academic and career training programs in the region.
Before this week, the facility was home only to the college’s Outreach Center as classes were held at the old Macomb High School building on Washington Street.
Oldfield said there were no major delays in construction.
