BOSTON (WWLP) - A Mexican national unlawfully residing in New Bedford was sentenced to four months in prison on Wednesday for illegally reentering the United States after deportation.

The Department of Justice states that 38-year-old Bernardo Lorenzo-Guatemala pleaded guilty in June 2025 to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He was arrested and charged by criminal complaint in May 2025.

Lorenzo-Guatemala was previously deported from the United States on June 4, 2019. His unlawful presence was discovered after he was arrested on July 2, 2024, for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
