SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Mattoon Street Arts Festival returned to Springfield's first historic district for the 52nd year, showcasing the longest-running arts and crafts show in the Pioneer Valley.

Over 100 exhibitors from all over New England are participating in the festival, displaying a variety of handmade items such as jewelry, ceramics, and woodworking.

"I think all the crafters here are trying to bring their best foot forward, and where can you get that, a free event?" exhibitor Mike Riley commented.

This year, the festival introduced three new food vendors to enhance the experience for attendees. Exhibitors are judged in eight different categories by local artists, with cash prizes awarded based on creativity, presentation, quality of products, and technical skills.
