A Jackson homeless shelter called Wingard Home, that takes in families and individuals who need help getting back on their feet, is hoping to make one young resident’s birthday extra special this month.

On September 11, Myon, who lives at the ministry with his mother, teenage sister, and baby brother, will turn 6 years old. Since his birthday falls on a school night, his mother hopes to celebrate with a party on Saturday, September 13.

Organizers say the celebration is a chance for the community to come together and show love to a child growing up in difficult circumstances. Myon’s favorite cartoon character is Sonic the Hedgehog, and his favorite colors are black and blue, so a themed party is in the works.
