A North Carolina man was arrested in Prentiss County after authorities say he sped through a work zone and was later found in possession of drugs.

On August 20, Investigator Aaron Stolz was speaking with a work crew on County Road 1101 about speeding vehicles when he saw a white 18-wheeler traveling faster than the posted 20 mph limit. Stolz, along with Investigator Torie Jumper and Chief Deputy Derrick Pruitt, conducted a traffic stop on the truck.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Brandon Blackburn, of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with DUI, careless driving, possession of paraphernalia, and felony possession of cocaine.

Authorities said North Mississippi Narcotics Agent Grady Smith will present the case to the next grand jury.
