The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will reach out to the public Thursday for help in solving the 2020 killing of a man in the Willowbrook area, with a $10,000 reward being offered for information that leads to the assailant.

Edgar Vasquez, 20, was shot around 11 p.m. July 6, 2020, shortly after he left his home to begin his overnight shift as a security guard at City of Hope Medical Center, authorities said.

Sheriff’s officials said Vasquez was in his white Toyota Camry in the alley behind his home in the 400 block of East 135th Street when multiple shots were fired at his vehicle. Vasquez died at the scene.

Family members said after the shooting that Vasquez was not originally scheduled to work that night, but that he picked up the shift to earn some extra money.
