SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A man who was found in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District suffering from a gunshot wound early Wednesday morning later died at the hospital, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Police responded at 3:25 a.m. to the area of McAllister and Jones streets on the report of a person on the ground. Arriving officers found a man who had been shot, SFPD said, and began to render aid.

Paramedics rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The man's identity has not been publicly released.

No arrests were announced in the fatal shooting. The SFPD Homicide Detail is leading the investigation.
