A 45-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Long Beach was identified Thursday by county authorities.
Officers dispatched at about 3:20 a.m. Monday to the area of Seventh Street and Federation Drive, near Recreation Park, found Daniel Murphy unconscious in the roadway, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Paramedics rushed Murphy to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police said Murphy was riding a scooter southbound outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by a 28-year-old Laguna Beach resident, who was traveling eastbound on Seventh Street.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
