When you think of the perfect hen do, plenty of people will think of a brilliant night out in a big city with good nightlight, reasonable drinks and fun activities .

And out of some heavy hitters across the UK - from Edinburgh to Liverpool to Brighton - it's Aberdeen that has been named the UK's top destination for hen parties.

Research from immersive cocktail bar brand Alcotraz ranked 25 towns and cities across the country. The brand ranked the party spots by affordability, safety, the number of late-night venues, and what activities are suitable for hen dos.

And it was the Granite City that came out on top , thanks to its mix of value for money, safety and entertainment options. It also scored particularly well for affordability, the Record reports .
