ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) -- A suspected shooter in an incident that occurred at a downtown bar in Asheville over the Labor Day weekend has been arrested.

The Asheville Police Department reported Thursday morning that Juan Francisco Martinez Jr. turned himself in to authorities on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault by pointing a gun and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Early Saturday morning, police responded to a shooting that occurred after a verbal altercation escalated into a fight at Tiger Mountain Bar near North Lexington Avenue and Hiawassee Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a victim with a gunshot wound to the leg and provided life-saving aid until EMS arrived.

The victim was then transported to Mission Hospital for treatment.
