(KRON) -- A standoff outside the Petaluma Police Department between officers and a suspect who fled from a routine traffic stop came to an end Tuesday night in a cloud of pepper spray, authorities said.
At 9:15 p.m., a Petaluma officer attempted to pull over a vehicle being driven by 33-year-old Osvaldo Castenada for a minor traffic violation, according to police. Instead of yielding, authorities said Castenada accelerated away and ran multiple red lights.
“Officers initiated a short pursuit to prevent further risk to the community,” Petaluma PD said. “The pursuit came to an unusual conclusion when the driver pulled into a parking lot immediately adjacent to the Petaluma Police Department station.”
