Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett announced Thursday that he is seeking re-election.

He ran unopposed three years ago. Prior to his first term, he served as Chief Deputy under Sheriff Jim Hammond.

In a public statement, Sheriff Garrett says he's focused on building a brand founded on exceptional customer service, professionalism, and innovation:

"Three years ago, the people of Hamilton County entrusted me with the responsibility and honor of serving as their Sheriff. Since then, our office has worked every day to deliver professional law enforcement services that ensure Hamilton County remains a place where families can thrive. Here in Hamilton County, we are leading the way."

So far, Sheriff Garrett is the only one who has announced a campaign bid.
