ST. PAUL — Minnesota State Auditor Julie Blaha announced on Thursday, Sept. 4, that she won’t seek re-election in 2026.
Blaha, the 55-year-old Democrat from Ramsey, was first elected to the position in 2019. Before her role as auditor, she worked as a middle school math teacher in the Anoka-Hennepin school district and served as the secretary-treasurer of the Minnesota AFL-CIO, according to her bio.
“My goals were to rebuild an office that was under attack and protect Minnesotans’ rights to make decisions in their local communities,” Blaha said in a news release announcing her decision. “I am proud to have accomplished those goals. Because the Office of the State Auditor is in a strong position, 2027 will be the time to give that opportunity to someone new.”
