Back in February of this year, Mozilla committed to supporting Firefox on older versions of Windows for at least another six months , which meant up to August 19th, 2025. Now, the company has once again updated its release calendar with some happy news for anyone still using older versions of Microsoft’s operating system.

Support for older Windows operating systems has been extended once again, with Mozilla continuing to release security updates for Firefox on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 at least until March 24th, 2026. That’s another six months, if you’re counting.

Firefox can still run on these older versions of Windows, but you’ll have to use Firefox Old ESR (Extended Support Release) to do so. As of this writing, the Old ESR branch is on version 115. According to the re
