A Leicester shire man has been found guilty of "sexually touching" a seven-year-old girl. Leicestershire Police said Ashley Carnell, 52, was caught after the victim's parents realised she was upset and had a "gentle" conversation with her.
The child "bravely" told her parents what had happened , and the police were contacted. A series of "specialist interviews" was then conducted with the victim by trained officers , the force said.
At Carnell's subsequent trial, pre-recorded evidence was presented to the jury to enable the victim to remain out of the court room , it added. This ensured the girl was supported during "very difficult and distressing" times.
