GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities arrested a Pawleys Island woman after they said she attempted to enter a high school with a handgun.
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said 39-year-old Tanesha Anissa Addison Bennett was taken into custody by a school resource officer at Waccamaw High School after setting off a security alarm.
Officials said the woman was stopped in a secure vestibule by the school safety monitor before getting access to the building.
A Glock handgun was found in the woman’s fanny pack. She reportedly told deputies that she forgot the gun was there.
Bennett has been charged with possession of a weapon on school property.
“This is a clear example of the process working as it should. The security system, school staff, and our deputies did their part to e
